While the 2016-2017 Champions League round of 16 is getting closer (today two games are scheduled: Paris SG-Barcelona and Benfica-Borussia Dortmund), it is already possible to have an idea on how 2017-2018 Champions League’s official match-ball is going to look like. First previews have emerged on Twitter and they present a cool and breathtaking look.
The ultimate decision is about to be taken in the next months.
As usual, Adidas took care of the design of the match ball that will be used for the group stage, which will establish the teams that will access the round of 16.
The ball is mainly white with blue navy decorations; the same blue color is used for the stars, which are the historic and distinctive symbol of the competition.
The Adidas logo is easily recognizable on the surface next to two Champions League logo and the inscription “Official Match Ball”.
On a technical note, the 2017-2018 Champions League official match-ball is identical to the one used in the previous edition. Each official match-ball presents the same star shaped patches with an additional covering. The surface does not present any stitching work; this characteristic can guarantee an optimal grip in all the possible game conditions to every athlete who will play with it.
The match ball will be available from August 2017 and will be found in all the official retail stores for €140.
