With the end of December, the renovation of the San Paolo Stadium officially started off (on schedule). The first tranche will be about guaranteeing the practicability of the field located in Fuorigrotta (outside Napoli city). The critical parts of the project, as mentioned by the Italian newspaper Repubblica, will be redoing the fire and sewer system.

Several improvements will be implemented. The guest team locker room will be redone as well. The City Council, by constantly monitoring the progress, aims to finish the project by the next home game in Champions League, that will take place on March 7, 2017. An occasion in which it is mandatory to present a remodeled stadium, considering that Real Madrid, the new world champions, will arrive in Naples.

Another urgent intervention concerns the press box. For quite some time now, this section of the stadium has proved to be inefficient in case of abundant rain. Also two toilets will be included. Currently, the journalists who follow Napoli’s home games can’t use any of the restrooms. The cost is significant: €1.4 million, an advance of the €25 million loan that Sports Credit granted to the Municipality for the entire restyling.

Renovations to San Paolo Stadium will be made by the companies that already collaborate with Napoli services, and in-house company of the municipal administration which is responsible for the maintenance of real estate assets of the City, just as San Paolo.

This project will be developed in 90 days. During the first home game of 2017 of Sarri’s team against Sampdoria the stadium won’t be yet at its best.

As soon as the season ends, from the month of June, another part of the construction is scheduled to begin. This will let San Paolo Stadium look completely redone thanks to a €24 million investment plan.
