According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, the captain and NO.10 of the Red Devils is the highest paid player in the Premier League. The former-Everton striker continued his successful career at Manchester United becoming a planetary star who earns 300,000 pounds per week. Wayne Rooney’s overall yearly salary is slightly more than 15 million pounds (around 17 mln euros). The striker of Manchester United is, therefore, leading the special standings of the highest paid players in the Premier League.
2016-17 Salaries of the Premier League players
Behind Rooney there are other great players such as Sergio Aguero and Cesc Fabregas but it is interesting to know that a former Inter midfielder is included in position No.4 of this ranking. Philippe Coutinho left the Black-and-Blue of Milan to join Liverpool FC and right now he is earning a whopping 150,000 pounds per week. The most surprising name on this list is definitely that of Christian Benteke. He is an excellent striker who deserves 120,000 pounds per week but the surprising fact is that he plays for Crystal Palace, so not a team that competes for the British title.
Last year remarkable performances of Leicester City’s striker Jamie Vardy are reflected in the above table as well. The England national team player recently renewed his contract with Ranieri’s team even if in the current season the club is struggling to not be relegated to the second series.
At the bottom of the highest paid players in the Premier League ranking we find a few players who appeared in the Italian Serie A. We are talking about the former Juventus striker Llorente who now plays at Swansea, the Swiss forwarder Shaqiri and Arnautovic who played at Inter, and the former Palermo striker Abel Hernandez who earns 35,000 pounds per week from Hull City.
