“I was lucky enough to wear the 1977 kit and even at the time I really liked the design,” commented chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on the reissued jersey. “This kit symbolised the start of a great era. Bayern had just won the European Cup for the first time. We were also German champions and many of the players from this team had also become World Cup winners in 1974,” recalled club president Uli Hoeneß, looking back on the great successes of his playing career.
The new home kit features striking white stripes on the traditional Bayern red, with white stripes on the shoulders and sleeves rounding off the streetwear look. The FC Bayern motto – ‘Mia san Mia’ – is also emblazoned on the collar of the shirt. The kit is inspired by history while offering modern functionality and gives both players and fans maximum comfort thanks to the breathable mesh fabric. The kit is complete with red shorts and red socks.
The new kit will be used for the first time at the Allianz Arena on Saturday in the final game of the season against Freiburg.
