FIFA collaborated with the social platform Facebook and developed a new Augmented Reality (AR) technology. Fans have a new way of showing their support for their teams.

According to InsideWorldfootball Facebook users can use the platform’s new augmented reality camera to add 3D face masks to photos and videos.

This new technology is available for the supporters of those teams that are currently competing in the Confederations Cup in Russia.

Therefore, FIFA is the first sports organization to implement Facebook’s augmented reality masks during an international sporting event.

The process to create a mask doesn’t seem to be complicated. Fans have to follow a three-step smartphone process:

1- Swipe to open the new Facebook camera;

2- Tap on the magic wand icon;

3- Select the mask of your favorite team, and take a picture or make a video.

Masks are available for the following teams:

1-Australia;

2-Cameroon;

3-Chile;

4-Germany;

5-Mexico;

6-New Zealand;

7-Portugal;

8-Russia.
