Adriano Galliani, former CEO of Milan, has been named President of Mediaset Premium.

In a press release by Mediaset, the following statement was made:

“With the Serie A rights up for tender for the 2018-2021 seasons, the presence of a figure with great experience in the world of sport and TV rights within the upper management of Premium assures us of the utmost authorithy of absolute standards.”

Pier Silvio Berlusconi:

“I am happy that Adriano accepted our proposal to join Premium. He is an important reinforcement in light of the expiring TV rights in Serie A.”

The soon to be 73 year-old Galliani brings a wealth of experience in his new role, having spent 31 years as Milan’s CEO, a role he relinquished once Milan was sold to Yonghong Li. He went on to head the real estate arm of Fininvest.

With his new role, it is a return to his past, having already worked with Silvio Berlusconi in creating ‘Canale 5’ and was part of the administration council of Mediaset.

Galliani’s priority will focus on Mediaset’s bid for the Serie A rights, as they go head to head with SKY.
